Patrol Season

As a surf lifesaving club, Maranui assists the Wellington City Council by providing qualified patrols on Wellington beaches. Maranui SLSC is responsible for patrolling the popular Lyall Bay Beach, where the number of beach-goers can swell to over 2,000 on a fine summer's day.

Maranui lifeguards patrol every Saturday, Sunday and public holiday, between 11am and 5pm, from  December through to April the following year.

Our patrols use SLSC flags and a Maranui tent to ensure they're clearly visible to the public. They also use a variety of aids to help ensure public safety, including: rescue tubes, paddleboards, inflatable rescue boats and two-way radios.

Please follow the instructions of lifeguards on patrol and remember to always swim between the flags.
