Lifeguards

Maranui SLSC's dedicated team of volunteer lifeguards patrol Wellington City beaches to ensure the safety of beach-users. Maranui's surf lifesaving programmes will equip you with the skills and confidence to help prevent drowning and injury on New Zealand beaches.

If you're 14 and over you can train to become an active Maranui lifeguard. The course is the Surf Lifeguard Award which Maranui instructs every year.

Training starts in October; a trial date will be advertise on this site for those who have not had any experience in Surf lifesaving and those who have not achieved their Surf lifesaving Certificate.

The trial is to provide you with information about what is expected of you when you undergo the challenge of becoming a Surf Lifeguard.

Once you've achieved your Surf Lifeguard Award you can help us ensure the safety of beach-goers at Wellington city beaches as a qualified lifeguard. This allows you to compete in Surf lifesaving sports and further your lifeguarding opportunities.

Maranui surf lifeguards patrol throughout the summer period. Keep an eye out for our surf life saving flags on a beach near you.
